Recently a group of people went on a service trip to Browning, Montana, the home of the Blackfeet nation (a Native American tribe). Twelve students, Mr. Ciccone, and Ms. Kane went on the trip. They went to a school called De LaSalle Blackfeet, which was modelled after the San Miguel School in Providence. It houses grades four through eight with the students primarily being part of the Blackfeet tribe. While they were there, the students heard impactful speeches from Native American speakers. While in Montana they attended mass twice; both consisted of a mixture of Catholic and native cultures. The masses used of different types of music than what is used at a La Salle mass. Also, the sign of peace lasts around ten minutes so that everyone could shake hands. They went hiking in Glacier National Park, and on the bunk house they lived in. They worked hard in order to better our LaSalle communities, which is something that our school should be thankful for.
