Are you looking for something to do during Thanksgiving and Winter break? There are many fun things to do in both Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Here are some cool events in the area to check out!
The first thing that is highly suggested, is going to the Roger Williams Zoo Holiday Lights Spectacular. With over 2 million lights and 40 acres of Christmas displays around the park, the zoo looks magical! It is open from November 25 to January 1. It is an amazing experience to walk through this unimaginable trail. Perfect to go through on a chilly night with family and friends to start celebrating the holidays.
Another great place to go to is to watch the Nutcracker at the VETS. The traditional story of the Nutcracker comes to life as a ballet performance. From incredible dancers to beautiful sets and scenes, it’sits an extraordinary production to see!
While you are in Providence, you can head over to the Providence Ice Skating Rink at the Bank Newport City Center. They have ice skating, ice skating lessons, and bumper cars! It’s definitely a fun activity for the winter time. It’s opening in late November so be sure to check it out.
If you are more into skiing/snowboarding or sledding/tubing, Yawgoo Valley has both! With amazing ski trails and speedy tubing fun, it’sits a great place to spend the day. You can even get ski and snowboarding lessons if you want to learn. It opens in mid December, just in time for winter break.
Another beautiful walk through is the Pawtucket Winter Wonderland. Slater Park is transformed into a beautiful trail with over 600 decorated Christmas trees and adorable houses built inspired by local businesses. You get to walk down a lane with the story of The Night Before Christmas told by scenes in miniature houses.
Something that the whole family might enjoy is a Polar Express Train. The train is on a three hour ride that brings the movie right to you. There is food, games, and even Santa comes on board for the kids. This is definitely a treat for the little ones. The train is located in Woonsocket and runs until Christmas.
